When I think of a restaurant that thinks of senior citizens as special people, several things come to mind. Availability of the special, no hidden costs, room at the table, and friendly, conscientious workers are at the top of my list, closely followed by economical value, safety, and the desire to return.
Although there are many places to dine around Northern Nevada, I find many seniors like to eat out where they are going to get a variety of good food, for a fair price, from a friendly server. Spending $3 for a beverage is generally far down on the “requirements” list, and a clean glass filled with water and a slice of lemon for free equates to a beverage for many, not just seniors. I have allowed my opinion to influence my decision. If I won’t eat there, I am not about to recommend it to someone else – no, not even my enemies.
My first recommendation is Sizzler Restaurant, at 615 East Prater Way, Sparks NV 89431. The phone number is 775-356-3969. Sizzler, an international restaurant chain, has been around for decades. Their very best deal, which is not a senior special, but certainly merits attention, is an endless salad, hot appetizer, and dessert bar for $7.99 at lunchtime.
The Sparks location is very convenient, just off Prater and McCarran. It is clean, comfortable, roomy, and well designed. The staff is very friendly, and groups are not a problem. Hot appetizers generally include macaroni and cheese, and chicken wings, so there is plenty of protein. Add to that a taco bar and salads to write home about, and you have a winner. Apple crisp seems to be the dessert of choice.
I hope you give this restaurant a try, and that your dining experience is as good as mine has been.
